Meet the Catharina Transfer, a tribute to Catharina Klein, whose breathtaking botanical illustrations captivated the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Known for her lush, romantic floral paintings with watercolor and gouache, Catharina Klein’s artistry brought life and vibrancy to the world—making her a beloved name in vintage botanical art.

Sally is especially fond of the Catharina Transfer, falling head over heels for Catharina's detailed and vibrant vintage artworks the moment she discovered them. Catharina was one of the first female artists to enter the commercial art world—a huge accomplishment for her time. 

Catharina’s focus on painting for commercial postcards, detracted from her recognition as a "fine" artist. Sadly, many of her original paintings were destroyed during the war. However, it’s thanks to her work on postcards that her art has become so iconic today, continuing to inspire creators like us.

IOD Transfers are a little delicate, need a little extra care, but are so worth it. With a little instruction, they are easy to use and add instant style to your projects. 

Prepare carefully; keep transfer & backing sheet together until ready to apply. Avoid dust, debris, & adhesive touching anything. Don't store in extreme temps/humid conditions. Start on clean, dry, matte surface. Seal w/water-based polyurethane before applying. Carefully lower transfer onto surface, using tape to secure. Rub firmly with tool to adhere image. If any part not transferred, lay it back down & rub. Smooth any edges with dry hand. Seal with water-based sealer/wax.
